Our Newburgh-on-Ythan Golf Club is nestled on the North East Coast and was originally created as a 9 hole course by John Udny in 1888. Fast forwarding to 1994, an additional 9 holes were added by Mr McAndrew turning the course into the beautiful 18 hole links course that you see today.
One of the features that make the course so unique is its spectacular positioning alongside the coastline. With wide stretching views over the Forvie sand dunes, Ythan estuary and steely North East sea, it’s easy to see why many travel from near and afar to play. Frequently featuring in Scotland’s Top 100 Courses, the track record of the course is a testament to its carefully crafted fairways and greens.

Located only a short walk from our prestigious course and the beautiful North East coastline, The Newburgh Inn is perfect for those looking for a peaceful rest. With spacious bedrooms and the opportunity to request dog-friendly accommodation, this hotel is the ideal choice for any keen golfer or those accompanied by a four-legged friend.
Contrastingly, if you’re looking to escape further into the Scottish countryside then the Tahuna Bothies are a perfect choice. Surrounded by breathtaking panoramic views each bothy allows visitors to appreciate the true natural beauty of the outdoors from the comfort of their own accommodation.
Additionally, in the nearby town of Cruden Bay lies the beautiful family-owned ‘Room on the River’ Bed and Breakfast (B&B). Also boasting tranquil surroundings, the B&B is situated by the bank of the ‘Water of Cruden’ and has incredible views of Cruden Bay beach.
If you’re willing to stay somewhere that is only a short drive from Newburgh then there are plenty of options to choose from including The New Inn in the nearby town of Ellon and The Cock & Bull in Balmedie.

After spending a long day on the course, why not treat yourself to a refreshing pint and some tasty grub from one of the many nearby restaurants. The View, looking onto the course and has a range of different menus catering for all, including a takeaway menu, kids menu and even a menu dedicated to your four-legged companions.
In addition, down the road in the town of Balmedie lies The Cock and Bull and The White Horse which both operate as traditional hotels with wonderful restaurants that serve fresh local produce.
Alternatively, if you’re wanting to enjoy some delicious food in the peace of your own surroundings then there is a selection of takeaway options located in the local area. Based in Ellon, Mikes Pizza Gaff serves irresistible fresh pizza available for collection or delivery.
